About
We got tired of the status quo.
So we changed it.
"Every club we talked to had the same story: one burned-out volunteer, one aging laptop, one bad day away from not having timing at all."
The Problem Nobody Talks About
Autocross timing hasn't meaningfully changed in 20 years. Clubs still haul a laptop to a parking lot, plug it into timing hardware via serial cables, and hope everything holds together for 8 hours in the sun.
The software is clunky. The setup is fragile. Only one or two people in the club know how to run it. And when that person moves away, retires, or just burns out from doing it every single event, the club scrambles.
Meanwhile, drivers are stuck crowding around a poster board or refreshing a page that updates 20 minutes later. The irony of autocross — a sport where milliseconds matter — is that results still take forever.
What If It Was Somebody Else's Problem?
That's the idea behind ConeTime. Take the laptop out of the equation entirely. Replace it with self-contained gate hardware that connects to the cloud via WiFi and does everything automatically.
No software to learn. No trained operator needed. Any volunteer can set up a gate — it's a physical task, not a technical one. Results flow to the cloud in real time and appear on every driver's phone instantly.
We didn't want to build a slightly better version of existing timing software. We wanted to build a system where timing is invisible — it just works, and you never think about it.
Our Journey
The "What If" Moment
What if timing gates talked directly to the cloud? What if there was no laptop at all? Started designing a cloud-first timing system from scratch.
AutoXTracker Launches
Built a driver analytics platform for autocross. Learned firsthand what clubs struggle with — and timing was always the answer.
Hardware Prototyping
ESP32-based timing gates with proven industrial-grade IR sensors, built-in cameras, GPS, and WiFi. Tested in real events.
Early Adopter Launch
Onboarding our first clubs now. First year of service free, priority support, and a direct line to shape the product.
What Drives Us
Volunteer-Proof
If only one person can run your timing, you don't have a timing system — you have a dependency. ConeTime removes the knowledge bottleneck.
Track-Hardened
IP67-rated sensors. Weather-resistant enclosure. Battery powered. Offline fallback. Built for parking lots in July, not climate-controlled offices.
Club-First
Autocross clubs are volunteer-run communities. ConeTime exists to reduce the burden on the people who make events happen.
From AutoXTracker to ConeTime
ConeTime is built by the same team behind AutoXTracker, the driver analytics platform used by autocross enthusiasts across the country. We spent years watching clubs struggle with timing — and kept hearing the same story.
AutoXTracker solves the analytics problem: season standings, driver stats, historical trends. ConeTime solves the event-day problem: getting accurate times, instantly, without a dedicated timing operator. Together, they cover the full autocross experience.
Everything we learned from working with hundreds of drivers and dozens of clubs informed ConeTime. We didn't build this in a lab — we built it at the track.
Ready to stop worrying about timing?
We'll walk you through the hardware, the setup, and what your first event looks like with ConeTime. No pressure — just honest answers.
